KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Sophomore Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) matched a season-best with a one-over par 72 to finish the day tied for 18th and the Bradley men's golf team is 18th in the team standings after one round at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Sunday.
Trolia paced the Braves on the opening day of play at the par-71 Turtle Point Golf Course at the Kiawah Island Resort, firing a one-over par 72 and is tied for 18th in the individual standings. He enters Monday's second round one shot out of the top 10 and two shots back of the top four.
Bradley shot 303 Monday, one shot out of a three-way tie for 15th and just four shots out of the top nine in the 26-team field. South Carolina holds a seven shot advantage on the field with a two-under par 282 Sunday. Winthrop is second overall at 289 and College of Charleston rounds out the top three at 290.
Sophomore Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) is three shots back of Trolia in a tie for 46th after an opening-round 72. The duo of junior Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) and freshman Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) both shot 78's Sunday and closed the day tied for 83rd. Junior Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) rounded out the scoring for Bradley, carding a 79 and is tied for 94th overall.
The Braves continue play at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Monday with one round of play.
