PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley women's basketball will return to WTVP, with the PBS affiliate recently announcing it will televise two games during the 2012-13 Missouri Valley Conference slate.
The Braves will make their return to the WTVP airwaves with the broadcast of the Jan. 6 contest at I-74 rival Illinois State. In addition, WTVP will air the Feb. 23 game from Renaissance Coliseum against pre-season league favorite Creighton.
"One of the first programming decisions I made when I became CEO at WTVP in 1996 was to begin broadcasting Bradley women's basketball games," said WTVP President and CEO Chet Tomczyk. "I am personally thrilled to re-establish that relationship and look forward to having the women's team back on WTVP."
Though WTVP did not televise a Bradley women's basketball game during the 2011-12 season, the station has been the local television home of the Bradley women's basketball program since 1996, televising 64 women's games during that time.
"WTVP's support has meant a great deal to our program," said first-year Bradley head coach Michael Brooks. "We are thankful for their efforts over the years and look forward to continuing this great partnership."
The PBS affiliate for Central Illinois is available to more than 700,000 viewers in the 22-county region surrounding Peoria, Bloomington/Normal and Galesburg.
In addition to the two games to be carried on WTVP, local cable provider Mediacom will televise a pair of Bradley home games on a tape-delayed basis. Mediacom, which showcased two BU home games last season, will broadcast the Jan. 18 home tilt with Northern Iowa along with the Feb. 21 home game against Drake.
