NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Bradley women's cross country team received all-academic team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after completing the 2011 Fall semester with a 3.44 cumulative grade point average.

"Our women continue to get the job done in the classroom," head coach Marc Burns said.  "We have fantastic support for our student-athletes here at Bradley.  Academics are important and the expectations are high on the team.  The women take great pride in earning this honor as a team each year and we will continue to emphasize academic excellence in our program."

Alabama led all teams with a 3.83 GPA, while Georgetown was named the 2011 NCAA Division I USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year.  A team must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA in order to be considered for the award.

In addition to it's USTFCCCA award, the women's cross country team boasted 19 members on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2011 Fall semester.  Bradley was one of seven Missouri Valley Conference schools to earn the honor and part of a record total 205 Division I women's programs to receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.
