ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Senior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) and freshman Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) shared Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week honors announced by the league office Wednesday after the duo tied for sixth at the Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland Fla.
Amundrud and Hedemann both turned in 54-hole scores of 225 during the two-day tournament at the par-72 Club at Eaglebrooke, helping Bradley to a fifth-place finish in the team's spring opener. Hedemann earned MVC Golfer of the Week honors for the first time in her career, while Amundrud garnered her sixth Valley weekly honor to tie former teammate Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Kate Andrew) for the most in school history.
The 13th individual in league history to win MVC Golfer of the Week honors six times, Amundrud shot a season-best 74 in the first and third rounds to tie Hedemann for sixth at 225 and finish six shots behind individual medalist Elia Folch Sola of Seminole State.
After rounds of 79 and 78 to open play Monday, Hedemann fired six birdies during Tuesday's final round and shot a school record 68. Hedemann and Florida Southern's M.J. Audette both shot tournament record rounds of 68 on the final day, with Hedemann breaking the previous school record of 69 shared by Bari Erais (Nov. 3, 2008), Meaghan LeBlanc (March 16, 2006) and Kelly Dillon (April 19, 1999).
The pair helped the Braves shoot their lowest round of the spring (308) and move up one spot into fifth in the final team standings.
Bradley returns to action Feb. 27 & 28 at the Lady Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas. Next week's trip to Texas will mark the squad's first trip to the Lone Star State since playing in the Islander Invitational in February 2007.
