GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Freshman Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) shot a one-under par 71 in the opening round of the Snowman Getaway to help the Bradley men's golf team to its second lowest round of the year in Monday's first round. The Braves are 12th in the team standings after 36 holes at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club.
Trolia got the spring off to a good start, shooting a one-under par 71 and was one of four BU players to shoot in the 70's in the day's first round. Bradley shot 298 in the first round, four off a season-best score, and followed it up with a 321 in the afternoon to end Monday's action in 12th at 619.
Tied for 27th in the field at 151, Trolia shot an 80 in the afternoon and is the Braves top performer heading into Tuesday's final round.
Sophomore Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) was the only BU individual to turn in a pair of sub-80 scores, firing rounds of 75 and 79 to finish the day three shots behind Trolia in a tie for 48th (154).
Sophomore Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) matched his season best score with an opening-round 74 and is tied for 70th at 158 after a second-round 84. Fellow sophomore Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) enters the final day tied for 75th (159), turning in scores of 78 and 81 during Monday's play.
Freshman Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) rounded out the individual scoring for BU with rounds of 80 and 81 and ended the day tied for 83rd (161).
UMKC holds the top spot on the team leaderboard at 592 and owns a three-shot lead on second-place Missouri State (595). British Columbia is third overall at 596 with St. John's sitting in fourth (600). Utah Valley, UNC-Greensboro and SIU Edwardsville ended the day tied for fifth overall at 601.
Bradley is 12th in the team standings at 619 and the Braves will open the final round 11 shots behind 11th-place Gonzaga (608). North Dakota is eight shots behind BU in 13th in the 16-team field at 627.
