ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- For the second consecutive week a Bradley women's golfer has claimed MVC Golfer of the Week honors, with freshman Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) earning the distinction after an 11th-place finish at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas, earlier this week.
Lin, who earned MVC Golfer of the Week honors for the first time in her career, was Bradley's top finisher at the Islander Classic. She carded a season-best, two-under par 70 in Tuesday's final round and posted her best finish in a tournament this year (11th) in addition to her lowest 54-hole total (228) of the season.
The final round 70 came after shooting a pair of 79's on the first day of play and pushed her team-leading season total for rounds in the 70's to 17. Lin is currently third on the team with a 77.8 stroke average and has been Bradley's top finisher in four of seven events this year.
Lin's award comes a week after fellow freshman Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) and senior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) shared MVC Golfer of the Week honors.
The Bradley women's golf team returns to action March 9-11 at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.
