PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's basketball player MacKenzie Westcott (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley women's basketball team to a pair of wins last week.
Westcott averaged 10.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in wins against Evansville (82-64) and Southern Illinois (66-50) last week. She had six points and a season-high five assists to go along with a career-best and Renaissance Coliseum record 15 rebounds in the victory against the Purple Aces. Westcott followed it up by matching a season-high with 15 points and also grabbed 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year Saturday against SIU. An actuarial science major, Westcott owns a 3.74 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Westcott and the Braves return to action Friday, playing a 6 p.m. (CST) game at Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.
