JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Freshman Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) shot a season-best 72 and tied for seventh, while the Bradley men's golf team moved into 11th-place in the final team standings at the Benbow Invitational Tuesday.
Masrin's one-over par 72 was a season-best score for the freshman as he posted his first career top-10 finish at the par-71 Jacksonville Beach Golf Club, tying for seventh with a 36-hole score of 146.? Sophomore Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill,/Columbia) was in the field as an individual and also turned in a career-best 72 Tuesday to tie for 26th at 150.
Sophomore Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) finished eight shots behind Masrin in a tie for 45th at 154 after shooting a 75 in the second round and the duo of freshman Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) and sophomore Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) were both one back of Kreiter in a tie for 49th (155).? Trolia carded a 76 Tuesday, while Young shot a 77.
Sophomore Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) also fired a 77 to finish in a tie for 64th at 158 to round out the team scoring for the Braves.
IUPUI won the team title, shooting a tournament-best 284 to edge Sam Houston State by one shot.? The Jaguars finished with a two-round total of 575 with Sam Houston State following in second at 576.? Evansville and Wisconsin-Green Bay tied for third (589) and tournament-host Butler was fifth overall at 596.?
Bradley's final round 300 helped the Braves move up one spot in the final team standings into 11th (610).? The Braves finished one shot back of 10th-place Florida A&M (609) and four shots behind Creighton (9th - 606).? BU edged 12th-place Fairleigh Dickinson (611) by one shot and was seven shots better than 13th-place Alabama State (617).
The Braves will stay in Jacksonville, Fla., playing in the Butler Invitational Wednesday and Thursday at the par-72 Windsor Parke Golf Club.?
