PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley capitalized on three Evansville errors to post a 6-0 win in the second game of a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader against Evansville Saturday afternoon at Laura Bradley Park, after the Purple Aces took the opener 5-1.

Sophomore Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) scattered four hits over six and one-third innings in the nightcap in addition to going 2-for-3 with a run and RBI to help the Braves snap a five-game game losing skid.  Lynch-Crumrine pitched 8.1 scoreless innings in the two games and earned the win in the circle in the second game.

Bradley (12-19 overall, 2-6 MVC) managed just two hits in the opener off Evansville (9-21 overall, 2-6 MVC) starter Sarah Patterson.  The Braves scored the first run of the game, opening the contest with back-to-back hits and senior Julie Sherman (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) scoring on a double by Jackie Roth (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg).

Patterson would settle down to retire the next eight batters she faced and did not let a BU runner advance past second in the final six innings as she earned the victory for the Purple Aces.  Evansville scored a pair of runs on a double by Allison Aguilera in the top of the second and Alicia Betancur drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.

Kayla Fortner added a pair of insurance runs on a two-run single by Kayla Fortner in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead.  Patterson retired the final eight Bradley hitters she saw to close out the win.

After struggling offensively in the first game, the Braves collected seven hits and also benefitted from three UE errors en route to a 6-0 victory to salvage the split.  Back-to-back Evansville miscues to open the bottom of the first led to a BU run and Lynch-Crumrine drove in Roth with a single to right as Bradley jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.

The Braves added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth after Lynch-Crumrine led off the inning with a double and she scored on a triple down the right field line by freshman Shannon King (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty).  Later in the inning freshman Brittany Burgess (Utica, Ill./St. Bede) scored from first on an Evansville error following an Alex Chandler (Needles, Calif./Needles) bunt single to push Bradley's advantage to 4-0.

BU added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run homer to left center by sophomore Bailiegh Basham (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land) and Lynch-Crumrine and senior Lindsay Hufeld (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) kept the Purple Aces off the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh innings to close out Bradley's first shutout in Missouri Valley Conference in two years.  The duo held Evansville to four hits in the nightcap.

Roth helped highlight BU's offensive efforts, going 2-for-4 on the day with two runs and an RBI as she extended her hit streak to four games.

Bradley and Evansville close out the three-game series Sunday with a single game at noon at Laura Bradley Park.
