TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Bradley women's golf team tied for low-round honors Monday, shooting a 307 to move into second in the team standings and freshman Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) leads the field with a three-over par 147 after the second round at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship.
Bradley entered the day in third after an opening round 305 Sunday and tied Southern Illinois for the low round of the day at 19-over par 307 to move ahead of pre-championship favorite Missouri State into second. The Braves (612) are two shots behind Northern Iowa (610) in the team standings heading into Tuesday's final round at the par-72 Country Club of Terre Haute.
Hedemann sits atop the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 147 after firing a two-over par 74 Monday. Illinois State's Katie Jean and Cassie Rushing of Southern Illinois are both one shot behind in a tie for second at 148, while three individuals are four shots back in a tie for fourth at 151.
Freshman Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) and senior Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) will begin final round action tied for ninth at 154. The fourth player in program history to card 25 rounds in the 70's in a season, Lin joined the elite group with a second-round 76. Gorman followed up her career-best 75 on Sunday with a 79 during Monday's action.
Senior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) shot a 78 and is tied for 19th in the field (157), while sophomore Cassandra Marschall (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield/Wisconsin-Green Bay) turned in her fifth consecutive sub-80 round with a 79. Marschall is one shot out of the top 20 in a tie for 21st at 158.
Northern Iowa held a one-shot lead heading into Monday's play and will open the final round with a 36-hole score of 610 and two-shot lead on second-place Bradley (612), which is looking for its first State Farm MVC Tournament title since 2006. Missouri State is one shot back of the Braves in third (613) with I-74 rival Illinois State fourth at 619. Southern Illinois rounds out the top half of the team standings at 620.
Wichita State and tournament-host Indiana State finished the day tied for sixth (633) and hold a 24 shot advantage on eighth-place Evansville (657). Drake (9th - 664) and Creighton (10th - 674) round out the field.
The final round of the State Farm MVC Championship is scheduled to get underway Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. (CDT).
