BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Bradley freshman runner Sarah McMahon (Colfax, Wis./Colfax H.S.) finished 12th in the 5,000 meters at the 2012 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday night at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.

McMahon, who earned Junior All-America honors earlier this year by finishing eighth in the USA Junior National Cross Country Championships, was one of 18 qualifiers for Saturday's 5,000-meter race.   Oregon freshman Allison Woodward won the race in 16:15.27, while McMahon's 18:15.79 placed her in between two more Pac-12 runners:  UCLA's Bronte Golick (18:07.53) was 11th and Stanford's Aimee Trujillo (18:18.73) was 14th.

"We are really proud of Sarah," said Bradley cross country and track head coach Marc Burns. "She had an outstanding freshman year.  We came up a little short of our goal of top eight Saturday, but it doesn't take anything away from her season.  She has a great future ahead of her and we are excited to see what she can accomplish in the coming years at Bradley!"

McMahon ran a personal-best 16:55.61 in the outdoor 5,000 meters April 6 at the San Francisco Invitational and claimed All-Missouri Valley Conference honors for the race at both the State Farm MVC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  Also an all-conference performer at the 2011 State Farm MVC Cross Country Championships, McMahon is one of three finalists for the 2012 Bradley Alumni B-Club Most Outstanding Athlete.
