Women's Golf 14th After Day One At Cardinal Cup

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Freshman Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) is tied for 32nd after 36 holes of play and the Bradley women's golf team is 14th in the team standings after day one action of the Cardinal Cup Monday.

Lemek fired rounds of 77 and 75 (152) Monday at the par-72 Cardinal Club to pace the Braves, who are 14th in the standings one shot behind James Madison and Akron for a tie for 12th.  She enters Tuesday's final round two shots out of the top 20 and three back of the top 15.

Fellow freshman Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) started the day strong with a season-best 78 and followed it up with a second-round 80 to close Monday's play six shots behind Lemek in a tie for 56th at 158.

Sophomore Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) also shot an opening-round 78 and is one shot  back of Roadley in a tie for 59th at 159 after shooting an 81 in the afternoon, while junior Cassandra Marschall (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield/Wisconsin-Green Bay) rebounded from a first-round 84 to shoot 76 in the second round and is tied for 66th in the field at 160.

Sophomore Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) opened the day with a season-best 77 and is tied for 76th overall at 163 to round out the team scoring for the Braves.  Freshman Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) is in the field as an individual and is tied with Marschall for 66th at 160, following a pair of 80's Monday.

Tournament-host Louisville holds a five-shot lead with a two-round total of 591, while Cincinnati is second at 596.  Missouri and Georgia State closed the day tied for third at 599 and the pair hold a two-shot lead on fifth-place Chattanooga (601).   Rollins College is sixth (603) and East Tennessee State is one back in seventh (604).

Missouri Valley Conference foe Illinois State closed the day eighth in the team standings (606) and owns a two-shot advantage on ninth-place UNC-Greensboro (608).  Maryland is 10th overall (610), followed by UNC-Wilmington in 11th (613).  James Madison and Akron are eight back in a tie for 12th at 621 and hold a one-shot lead on Bradley (14th - 622).  Charleston Southern completes the field in 15th at 630.

Bradley closes out play at the Cardinal Cup Tuesday with one round of play scheduled to begin at 7:40 a.m. (CDT).
