NORMAL, Ill. -- Three Bradley players carded season-best scores in the final round of play at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate to highlight action Sunday for the Bradley men's golf team. The Braves finished 15th in the tournament field, shooting a season-best round of 304.
Sophomore Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) helped highlight Sunday's play with a season-best one-over par 72 at the par-71 Weibring Golf Course and tied for 37th overall at 230.
Fellow sophomore Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) was BU's top finisher in the tournament at 225, trying for 23rd in the field after a final-round 75.
Freshman Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) turned in a third-round 80 to tie for 56th (236), while junior Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) fired a season-low 78 to finish 78th (246). Junior Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) was five shots behind Young in 79th at 251, wrapping up play with a season-best 79.
Illinois won the team title by 21 strokes, finishing with a 54-hole total of 870, while Central Arkansas was second overall at 891. Tournament-host Illinois State took third (893) with Missouri Valley Conference rival Missouri State following in fourth at 894. Wisconsin rounded out the top five at 902 and Detroit was sixth at 906.
Miami (Ohio) and Nebraska tied for seventh (912) and Southern Illinois was one back in ninth (913). SIU Edwardsville and Northern Illinois both tied for 10th at 917, with Northern Iowa following in 12th (924). Western Illinois was five shots behind the Panthers in 13th at 929, Loyols-Chicago was 14th at 931 and Bradley completed the field in 15th at 936.
The Braves return to action Oct. 14 & 15 at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate in Kansas City, Mo.
