Bradley Wins Three Consolation Titles at ISU

Jessie Bertino Named Country Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore women's tennis player Jessie Bertino (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after winning the consolation final in Flight 3 Singles at the season-opening Redbird Roundup.

Bertino helped highlight play for the Braves in Normal, Ill., posting a 3-1 singles record en route to the consolation title.  She advanced to the consolation semifinals with a 7-5, 6-1 victory against teammate Brigitte Graf and topped Drake's Amanda Dick 6-3, 6-0 to reach the consolation finals.  In the title match, Bertino was a 6-4, 6-2 winner against teammate Lauren Watts.  A political science major, Bertino owns a 3.80 cumulative grade point average.    
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Bertino and the Bradley women's tennis team are back in action Oct. 5-7 at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships in Wichita, Kan.
