PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior guard Kelsey Budd (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after averaging 16.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of games last week.
Budd opened the week with 18 points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals against Wichita State in Bradley's Missouri Valley Conference home opener. In Saturday's victory against defending Missouri Valley Conference regular-season champion Missouri State, Budd had 15 points, five assists and two steals in addition to assisting Katie Yohn's game-winning three-pointer with 1.9 seconds to play. A sports communication major, Budd owns a 3.73 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Budd and the Bradley women's basketball team close out a three-game home stand Friday with a 6 p.m. game against Northern Iowa at Renaissance Coliseum.
