PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore runner Sarah McMahon (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after running a career-best time in the 3,000 meters at last week's Indiana Relays.
McMahon finished 12th in the event Friday, turning in a career-best effort of 9:52.51. One of two individuals in program history to run a sub 10-minute 3,000 meters, McMahon's time ranks third in the MVC this season and was the best time by a Bradley runner since the 2000 indoor season. An english major, McMahon owns a 4.00 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
McMahon will be running at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., Friday, while the rest of the Bradley track and field team will be in action Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan's Keck Invitational in Bloomington, Ill.
