PEORIA, Ill. – "Go Pink, Go Bradley" will be the theme when both the Bradley men's and women's basketball teams wear pink uniforms in tribute to breast cancer survivors during selected home games next month.
The Bradley men's basketball "pink" game will be Feb. 16 when the Braves host Indiana State in a 1 p.m. game at Carver Arena, while the women's basketball "pink" game will be the following week, Feb. 23, when the Braves host Creighton in a 2 p.m. game at Renaissance Coliseum.
Among the many promotions associated with the “pink” games, breast cancer survivors will be recognized at both games and may receive free admission to the games by claiming their tickets in advance at the Renaissance Coliseum Box Office. Breast cancer survivors will have until 5 p.m. Feb. 14 to claim their free tickets for the men's game and Feb. 21 to claim their free tickets for the women's game. In addition, fans are encouraged to join head coaches Geno Ford and Michael Brooks by participating in Coach's Challenges at their respective games to benefit the Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate.
“The Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate is proud to partner with Bradley Basketball,” said Linda Maricle, Executive Director of the Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate. “For the first time, this partnership includes the Bradley men's basketball team. This is important because we know that breast cancer impacts men, too. They are husbands, fathers, sons and loved ones of breast cancer patients. While rare, men can also get breast cancer.”
“'Go Pink, Go Bradley' is a great way for Bradley University and the Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate to spread the breast health message while also raising money for local community health grants and research,” said Gina Morss-Fischer, Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate Development Director.
