Box Score

DES MOINES, Iowa – In a battle for sole possession of second place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings, host Drake (8-5-3, 3-1-1 MVC) got a pair of goals from Eric Williams in a span of 5-minutes, 36-seconds to earn a 2-1 victory against Bradley (8-5-2, 2-1-1 MVC) Saturday night at the Cownie Soccer Complex.

Bradley goalkeeper Brian Billings stretched his scoreless streak to the third-longest in program history before Williams ended the streak with his first goal of the year at 59:25 on a header from six yards out.  Williams liked the spot so much, he gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at 65:01 with another header from six yards out.  Bryan Jantsch assisted both goals.

Bradley, which outshot its hosts 20-10 and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks, got on the board in the 77th minute when freshman forward Christian Okeke flicked home his fourth goal of the year.  That was the only one of eight shots on goal to get past Drake keeper Darrin MacLeod.

Bradley had won three consecutive games by 2-0 scores.  The Braves will have a week to recover before hosting league-leading Missouri State in a 6 p.m. Valley clash Nov. 2 at Shea Stadium.  The regular-season home finale will be Senior Night at Shea Stadium and 10 Bradley seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony.  It will also be Salute to Service Night at Shea Stadium, where Bradley will offer free admission to active members of the military, as well as first responders (police, fire and EMS) who present valid identification at the ticket window.  Area not-for-profit organizations and Bradley University Greek organizations also are invited to set up displays on the Shea Stadium concourse to highlight their philanthropic efforts.
