DAYTON, Ohio – Tournament-host Wright State used an early 18-3 run to open up a 15-point lead and the Raiders connected on 8-of-12 three-pointers in the second half to hold off any Bradley rally attempts and top the Braves 87-71 Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the Wright State Invitational.

Bradley (3-7 overall) fell behind early on after an 18-3 Wright State (10-3 overall) run gave the Raiders a 20-5 advantage less than seven minutes into the contest.  The Braves answered with a 14-4 spurt of its own to pull within five points (24-19) nearing the seven-minute mark of the first half.

Tournament MVP Kim Demmings scored seven consecutive points to open a 13-3 Wright State spurt which extended the Raiders lead back to 15 points (37-22) with just over three minutes left before halftime.  The Braves trailed 40-26 at the break.

Wright State entered the game averaging better than eight three-pointers per game and recovered after an 0-for-5 start from beyond the arc to make 8-of-12 trey's in the second half.  Two Raider three-pointers on the first three possessions of the second half helped Wright State extend the advantage to 20 points in the opening minutes of the period.

Bradley trimmed the Wright State lead to 12 points nearing the midway point of the second half, but after a 9-2 Raider spurt the Braves got no closer than 15 points down the stretch.

Senior Catie O'Leary (Janesville, Wis./Parker/Wisconsin) scored 19 of her team and season-high 23 points in the second half to lead Bradley in scoring.  She made 8-of-14 from the field in 33 minutes of action.

Sophomore Fantasia Vine (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) joined Frings on the all-tournament team after netting a career-best for the second straight game.  Vine finished with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and hauled down a team-best six rebounds.  Junior Michelle Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) added 13 points and a pair of steals.

Frings followed up her 12 point and 18 rebound effort in Friday's win against Lipscomb with 12 points on 5-for-7 from the field Saturday against Wright State.

Demmings made 4-of-5 three-point attempts and paced Wright State with 30 points.  Ivory James added 17 points, while KC Elkins (12 points) and Tay'ler Mingo (10 points) were also in double figures.

Bradley shot 59 percent from the field in the second half and 54 percent in the game, but the Raiders shot a blistering 62.5 percent in the second half, including 8-of-12 from three-point range.

The Braves have a week off, before closing out the non-conference portion of the schedule, Dec. 29 with a 3 p.m. game against pre-season Big East Conference favorite DePaul at Renaissance Coliseum
