Box Score TEMPE, Ariz. -- Junior Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) limited fourth-ranked Arizona State to four hits, but Bradley was unable to plate a run against the Sun Devils as the Braves fell 3-0 Sunday afternoon to close out play at the Kajikawa Classic.
Bradley (2-3 overall), which left four runners in scoring position in the game, came up empty after loading the bases in the top of the first on a pair of singles and an Arizona State error. The Braves also stranded a runner at third in the second after freshman Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) reached on an error to open the inning.
Arizona State's Cheyenne Coyle gave the Sun Devils a 1-0 lead, hitting a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the third.
Lynch-Crumrine gave up just two hits in the first five innings, before Arizona State (6-0 overall) added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the advantage to 3-0. Elizabeth Caporuscio had a one-out double and the Sun Devils had runners at second and third after a single. Arizona State later scored a run on a fielder's choice and added another run on a sacrifice fly.
Junior Alex Chandler (Needles, Calif./Needles) capped a 2-for-3 day at the plate with a one-out double in the top of the seventh as Bradley tried to rally. Dallas Escobedo took over in the circle for the Sun Devils and struck out the next two batters to end the Bradley threat.
Lynch-Crumrine struck out three and walked two in the loss, falling to 2-1 on the year.
Bradley returns to action Friday, opening play at the Lobo Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., against IPFW (10 a.m. CST).
