Box Score CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Bradley got off to a strong start, scoring the first 15 points of the game, but Northern Iowa answered with 16 points in less than three minutes and made 13 three-pointers in the contest to top the Braves 70-45 Saturday afternoon at the McLeod Center.
All five Bradley starters scored during the opening run as the Braves (10-13 overall, 4-8 MVC) jumped out to a 15-0 lead with 13:47 remaining in the first half, before going cold from the field.
Northern Iowa (12-12 overall, 7-5 MVC) scored its first points of the game nearly nine and a half minutes into the contest, before scoring 16 points in a little over two minutes to pull within one point at 17-16 with just under nine minutes remaining in the half.
The Panthers missed their first 12 shots from the field, but went 9-for-18 in the final 11:30 of the period and used a 25-4 run en route to a 25-21 halftime lead. Bradley made just 3-of-21 shots in the 13 minutes of the first half after a 5-for-8 start from the field.
The Braves trailed 40-32 with 14:06 to play after a Brooke Bisping (Morton, Ill./Morton) free throw, when former MVC Player of the Year Jacqui Kalin hit a three-pointer to spark an 11-0 UNI run which extended the Panthers lead to 51-32. After an 0-for-4 start from beyond the arc during the opening drought, UNI made 13-of-27 three-point attempts down the stretch and led by as many as 27 points in the convincing win.
Junior Catie O'Leary (Janseville, Wis./Parker/Wisconsin) was the only Bradley player to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points and a team-high six rebounds. The 45 points were a season-low for the Braves, who shot just 30.9 percent from the field.
Kalin led all players with 18 points, making 4-of-9 three-point attempts, and was one of four Panthers with two or more three's. Hannah Schonhardt connected on 3-of-4 triples and finished with 15 points, while Brittni Donaldson added 11 points off the bench.
Bradley returns to Renaissance Coliseum Thursday, hosting Drake in a 6 p.m. game to open a two-game home stand.
