Box Score PEORIA, Ill. -- Preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite Creighton entered Saturday's game leading the nation in three-point field goals and the Bluejays connected on 13 triples in an 83-65 victory against Bradley Saturday afternoon at Renaissance Coliseum to spoil BU's annual "pink" game.
For the second consecutive game, sophomore Michelle Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) had a career-high in points, finishing with 19 points to go with four assists and four steals to lead the Braves. Senior Katie Yohn (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward) added 15 points, four assists and three steals, while fellow senior Brooke Bisping (Morton, Ill./Morton) chipped in with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Bradley (11-14 overall, 5-9 MVC) pulled even with Creighton early on at 7-7, before going seven minutes without a field goal. The Bluejays (20-6 overall, 12-3 MVC) took advantage of the drought, using an 11-2 spurt to go in front 20-11 and later stretched the advantage to 18 points (44-26) heading into the final minute of the period. Creighton led 44-28 at the half with Sarah Nelson and Alyssa Kamphaus combining for 24 points at the break.
After scoring a career-high 18 points Thursday against Drake, Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) hit 6-of-7 shots and had 13 points in the opening 20 minutes of play en route to her career-high 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting.
The Braves scored the first points of the second half, but Creighton answered with 1n 11-0 run over the next 2:11 to push the lead to 55-31 with 16 minutes to play. Bradley chipped away at the Bluejays' advantage, using a 10-3 run to cut the deficit to 64-48 nearing the eight-minute mark, before back-to-back Ally Jensen three-pointers quickly pushed the Creighton advantage to 70-48.
Creighton went on to make eight of 18 second-half three-point attempts (44.4 percent) and finished 13-of-38 from beyond the arc. Five Bluejays scored in double figures, led by Nelson's 18 points as Creighton extended its win streak to four consecutive games.
Yohn moved into ninth on Bradley's career scoring list, passing Genny Mueller (1,269 points) with a 15-point effort. BU's all-time leader in three-point field goals with 196, Yohn now has 1,275 career points.
Bradley opens the final road swing of the regular-season Friday, playing a 7 p.m. game at Southern Illinois in Carbondale, Ill.
