PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley women's tennis team split a pair
of dual matches Saturday at the Clubs at River City, starting the day with a
7-0 sweep against Valparaiso before dropping a 6-1 decision to Milwaukee.
The Braves
(4-4) dominated Valparaiso (1-7) from the beginning, clinching the doubles
point with a pair of 8-2 victories from the combos of Adele Henke/Corey Mattson
(No. 1) and Carly Miles/Kennedy Scott (No. 2).
The duo of Elizabeth Przystawski/Sarah Rodefeld completed the doubles
sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3.
Bradley carried
the momentum over to singles action, winning six sets by 6-0 scores. Rodefeld (No. 2), Scott (No. 5) and Jessie
Bertino (No. 6) all swept through their singles matches without losing a game
to clinch the win. Henke added a 6-1,
6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Przystawski (No. 3) and Miles (No. 4) each won
3-set matches.
Rodefeld
managed the only point in the nightcap against Milwaukee (5-5) by earning a 3-set
win at No. 2 singles.
The Braves will
close out a 3-match weekend by hosting Eastern Illinois in a 2 p.m. match
Sunday at the Clubs at River City.
