POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- The Bradley men's golf team came up short in its only action during the team's second trip of the year to Florida, dropping a match play dual against Yale Monday. The Bulldogs edged the Braves 4.5 to 2.5 at the Streamsong Resort's Red Course.
The teams played the first collegiate event at the recently opened Streamsong Resort Red Course, which has been listed as the second-best public golf course in Florida according to Golfweek.
Sophomore Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) helped highlight the day for the Braves, shooting an eagle on the par four fourth hole and winning in the #1 slot 2 and 1. Junior Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) was the #6 player in the lineup and earned the only other win for Bradley in the seven-person duel, claiming a 3 and 2 win.
Senior Corey Verseman (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) birdied his final hole to halve his match at #7 in the lineup. Sophomore Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) led for most of his match, bet fell 2 and 1 at the #2 spot in the lineup. Yale also claimed victories at three, four and five in the lineup to take the match.
Bradley will spend the rest of Spring Break in Florida and will return to action March 29 & 30 at the Beu Mussatto Invitational in Macomb, Ill.
