PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's golf team will open its spring schedule in Florida, after wrapping up the fall schedule in South Carolina on Oct. 30, taking part in the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., Monday and Tuesday.
The Braves will play in the Benbow Invitational for the third consecutive year, finishing 11th at last year's event at the par-71 Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. The 36-hole tournament features one round of play Monday, starting at 11 a.m. and concludes Tuesday with a single round teeing off at 11 a.m.
Bradley is joined in the field by Missouri Valley Conference rival Evansville along with in-state foes Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois. The 14-team field also includes tournament-host Butler, Bethune Cookman, Cleveland State, Dayton, Florida Atlantic, Florida A&M, IPFW, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky and Savannah State.
Sophomore Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) wrapped up the fall season on a high note, garnering MVC Golfer of the Week honors after tying for 51st at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in Bradley's final tournament. Trolia, who tied for 49th at last year's Benbow Invite with a two-round total of 155, owns the top stroke average on the team at 76.7 per round.
Fellow sophomore Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) was BU's top finisher at last spring's Benbow Invitational, tying for seventh with a 36-hole score of 146. Masrin followed up an opening round 74 with a one-over 72 last year. He owns a 76.2 stroke average over the last three tournaments.
Junior Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) will be playing in his third Benbow Invitational and has shot 78 or better in each of his last three rounds at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. Junior Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) carded a career-best 72 in the final round of last year's event and tied for 26th as an individual.
The Braves will return to Florida for spring break, facing Yale in a dual in Lakeland, Fla., on March 18.
