PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior men's golfer Andrew Weisenborn (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after winning medalist honors at the Bradley Invitational.

Weisenborn won a sudden death playoff to claim medalist honors and help the Bradley men's golf team to a second-place finish in the squad's only home meet of the year.  After rounds of 77 and 76 Saturday, Weisenborn fired a career-best four-under par 68 Sunday at the par-72 WeaverRidge Golf Club for the lowest individual round by a Bradley player since October 2007 to tie Valparaiso's Andy Webb for the lowest three-round total of the tournament at 221.  Weisenborn birdied the par-four 10th hole to win the playoff and claim medalist honors.  In addition to his career-best 68, he helped Bradley tie the lowest round in school history as the Braves shot a six-under 282 Sunday to move into second place in the final team standings.  Weisenborn's top-10 finish was the first of his career.  A finance major, Weisenborn owns a 3.01 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Weisenborn and the Braves return to action Monday and Tuesday at the Kemper Intercollegiate in Glenview, Ill., in the team's final outing before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship later this month.
