PEORIA, Ill. -- Registration for the 2013 Distance Running Camp of Central Illinois, which will be held July 24-28, is now open for children between the ages of 12 and 18. The camp is designed to educate young student-athletes on how to become better distance runners and leaders.
Both overnight and day camp packages are available and the camp will include training at Rock Island Trail, Farmdale State Park and Detweiller Park, home of the Illinois State High School Cross Country Championships. For more information or to reserve a spot please contact camp director Marc Burns at 309-677-2643 or mburns@bradley.edu.
“We are thrilled to announce the details on The Distance Running Camp of Central Illinois,” said Bradley Cross Country/Track & Field head coach Marc Burns. “We have seen some amazing growth in the first two years of our camp, growing from 41 campers in 2011 to almost 100 last year. The benefit of the team camp is to allow the coach to join them during camp. Our running is purely aerobic in nature outside of the Detweiller at Dark race.
“We hit all of our favorite soft surface running spots during the camp,” added Burns. “This year we are also adding a day at a camp site off campus where participants will have the opportunity to swim, canoe, fish and run some nice hills. We have also added a camp dance to the end of the week that should be lots of fun. Our camp, which takes place on Bradley University's campus, is a great showcase of the school and our program. The counselors are current members of the Bradley cross country/track and field teams and each camper will get a hands-on experience of how we run our program.”
Camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants, in accordance with the NCAA Camps and Clinics Legislation (limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender).
Camps are independently owned and operated and are in no way administered or associated with Bradley University.
