PEORIA, Ill. – Ronnie Bouemboue (Brooklyn, N.Y./Aviation H.S.), a former star player and coaching staff member at North Carolina State, has joined the Bradley Soccer staff as an assistant coach.
Bouemboue (pronounced BOO – em - bay) served as Director of Soccer Operations at NC State for the past three seasons, coordinating video recording and analysis, camps, campus recruiting visits, social media outlets, alumni relations and community outreach programs.
“We are very excited to welcome Ronnie to our staff,” said Bradley head coach Jim DeRose. “Obviously, Ronnie has been an accomplished player in the ACC, and in his past three seasons as a Director of Soccer Operations at NC State, he has gained a wealth of experience in the nation's elite soccer conference. Ronnie has had the good fortune of working and playing for legendary coach George Tarantini prior to his retirement and during the past two seasons for Coach Kelly Findley.
“During the interview process, it became increasingly apparent how passionate Ronnie was about being a college coach and the impact he made at NC State was very impressive,” added DeRose. “We are excited to have Ronnie continue in a similar capacity at Bradley, but we feel his true benefit will be felt in having him on the road recruiting and interacting with our student-athletes on a regular basis.”
As a forward for the Wolfpack from 2005-09, Bouemboue battled back from a knee injury that forced him to miss the 2007 season to earn second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in 2008 and 2009. After leading the ACC in goals per game (0.74) in 2008 when he led the Wolfpack in scoring with 32 points and 14 goals, Bouemboue led NC State to the 2009 NCAA Tournament. He also was a member of the ACC's All-Rookie in 2005, when he also helped the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tournament, and he was a three-time honoree on the ACC All-Tournament Team.
In addition to his play on the field, Bouemboue was a finalist for the 2009 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in men's soccer. He was a four-year member of NC State's student-athlete advisory committee, serving as the organization's president from 2007-09, and he represented student-athletes on the Counsel for Athletics Committee for three years.
After earning his bachelor's degree in business administration (marketing) from North Carolina State in 2008, Bouemboue pursued his master's degree in liberal studies while working on the Wolfpack coaching staff, earning his postgraduate degree last month. Bouemboue also served as an assistant coach for the North Carolina Olympic Development Program since 2011, as well as the Triangle Futbol Club from 2011-12 and the North Carolina Alliance since 2012.
Bradley returns 18 lettermen from its 2012 squad that finished 10-6-4 overall, including a 3-1 victory against eventual Big Ten Conference co-champion Northwestern.
