PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley Women's Basketball has added a pair of guards to the 2013-14 roster, with second-year head coach Michael Brooks announcing Wednesday that 5-10 guard Charnelle Reed (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) has transferred to The Hilltop from Western Illinois and Richwoods High School product Audrey Lawson (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) has joined the squad as a walk-on.

Reed will sit out the 2013-14 per NCAA Division I transfer rules and have three years of eligibility remaining after playing the 2012-13 season with the Leathernecks.

“We are excited that Charnelle has decided to transfer to Bradley and look forward to her helping the team,” Brooks said.  “She is a versatile athlete and will help spread the floor with her three-point shooting next year.  A Peoria product, Audrey has a great passion for Bradley.  Her enthusiasm and hustle make her a great addition to our squad.”

As a freshman, Reed started two of the 30 games she appeared in and ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 8.5 points per game last year at Western Illinois.  The top three-point shooter for the Leathernecks, she connected on 40.2 percent of her three-point attempts.  Reed scored in double figures 13 times, including each of her first three outings and netted a season-best 19 points at Missouri.

Reed was a four-time all-conference and all-state selection at Homewood-Flossmoor, where she averaged 14 points, four assists and four rebounds per game as a senior.

Lawson is entering her sophomore year academically at Bradley and has four years of eligibility remaining.   The first Bradley Women's Basketball player from Peoria, Ill., since Illinois Central College transfer Rachel Merriman played for the Braves in 2006-07 and 2007-08, Lawson helped the Knights to three regional titles and one sectional title.
