CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Junior Sarah McMahon (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) was the top collegiate competitor in the 3,000 meters and sophomore Rachel Sudbury (Tomahawk, Wis./Tomahawk) was one of four Bradley individuals to post top-10 times in school history as the duo helped highlight competition for the Bradley track and field team at the season-opening Illini Classic Saturday.

McMahon broke 10 minutes in the 3,000 meters for the seventh time in her career, clocking a time of 9:59.30 to finish second overall and was the top collegiate runner in the field.  Sophomore Caitlin Busch (Waterloo, Ill./Freeburg) was close behind in fourth with a career-best effort of 10:09.92 as she turned in the seventh-best time in program history. 

Sudbury posted a fourth-place finish in the 600 meters in the season-opening event, with her time of 1:37.45 ranking as the third-best time in school history.  Her time was the best by a Bradley individual since Tam Hart in 2003 and just two seconds off the school record. 

In the mile, sophomore Kristen Busch (Waterloo, Ill./Freeburg) became the seventh individual in program history to break five minutes and her time of 4:59.78 is the sixth best in school history.  She paced eight Bradley runners in the field in fifth place.  Sophomore Emily Delvo (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Hearth Griffin) also helped highlight the first outing of the indoor season for the Braves with a career-best time of 5:01.79.  Delvo was seventh overall Saturday at the Illini Classic and her time ranks ninth in Bradley history. 

The Braves return to action next Saturday at the Eastern Illinois John Craft Invitational in Charleston, Ill.
