ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Senior Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Masrin earned MVC Golfer of the Week honors for the third time in his career and first time this season after he posted his seventh consecutive top-20 finish when he tied for 16th at the Badger Invitational earlier this week. He also extended his streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to a career-best 22 with scores of 74, 75 and 73 in the three-day tournament at the par-72 University Ridge Golf Course and finished with his lowest 54-hole total (222) of the season.
Masrin, who was the top finisher from the MVC at the Badger Invite, turned in his best individual finish of the fall against a field which featured two MVC foes (Illinois State and Drake) in addition to five teams currently ranked in the top 100 according to Golfweek.com. In addition, Masrin moved into a tie for 10th in school history with his 74th career sub-80 round.
The MVC Golfer of the Week honor makes Masrin the third individual in program history to earn the award three times during their time on The Hilltop. Fellow senior Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) and former Bradley standout Andy Mickelson (1999-2003) are the only other three-time MVC Golfer of the Week selections for the Braves.
Masrin and the Bradley men's golf team close out the fall schedule Monday and Tuesday at the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
