URBANA, Ill. - A trio of youthful Bradley women's tennis players completed their participation in the 2014 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional with even 3-3 record through the first two days of the event at Atkins Tennis Center.
Freshman Alexa Brandt received a first-bye inn the Singles Qualifying Draw, then split her two matches to finish one 3-set match short of reaching the 48-player Main Draw. Following Thursday's 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(4) win against Michigan State's Emily Myers, Brandt dropped a 3-set decision (6-4, 3-6, 3-6) to Notre Dame's Allison Miller in the Qualifying Draw round of 16 Friday.
Brandt teamed with sophomore Ashley Thai for Bradley's entry in the Doubles Main Draw, but the duo was eliminated with an 8-4 setback Friday against the Michigan State pairing of Aslina Chua and Catherine Parenteau.
Sophomore Ariel Dechter joined Brandt in the Singles Qualifying Draw, but suffered a 6-0, 7-5 loss to Detroit's Valerya Kulikovskaya in the opening round Thursday. Dechter rebounded with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Youngstown State's Annina Brendel in Thursday's back draw. Brandt added a second back draw win Friday with a 6-2, 6-3 decision against Youngstown State's Nehel Sahni.
Bradley will complete its fall schedule next weekend by playing in the Drake Jamboree in Des Moines.
