LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Junior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) is tied for 18th after shooting a four-over 76 and the Bradley women's golf team is ninth in the team standings after the first day of play at the 37th annual Pat Bradley Invitational.
Lemek, who has tied for third in each of her first two trips to the Pat Bradley Invite, leads the Braves after the first of three rounds in the final outing of the fall for Bradley. Her opening round 76 extended her personal-best streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 17, which ranks as the third longest streak in school history.
Lemek finished the day three shots out of the top 10 and four shots out of the top five heading into Monday's second round at the par-72 Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
Junior Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) fired a season-best 79 Sunday and is tied for 35th overall, while freshman Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) is one shot behind Walsh (80) in a tie for 41st.
Junior Jenna Roadley's (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) first-round 83 helped her end the day tied for 58th and freshman Abby Wellens (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) rounded out the scoring for Bradley with an 86 and will start the second round tied for 65th overall.
The Braves shot 318 Sunday and sit in the ninth in the team standings, six shots back of eighth-place Cincinnati (312). Memphis, which was ranked 68th in the nation last week according to Golfweek.com, leads the field at even par 288. Daytona State is third overall at 294 and 65th-ranked Florida International is third at 295.
Bradley was three shots better than 10th-place Texas A&M Corpus Christi (321) Sunday and the Braves have a four-shot advantage on 11th-place Florida A&M (322). Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake is 12th overall in the 13-team field at 323.
Monday's second round of the Pat Bradley Invitational is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
