PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior runner Caitlin Busch (Waterloo, Ill./Freeburg) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning the individual title at the Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship Saturday.
Busch became Bradley's first MVC Cross Country individual champ since Hall of Fame member Mary Ellen Hill in 1999 by breaking Hill's school-record 5K time of 17:08 set in 1998 with a time of 17:04.43 to win the MVC individual title Saturday in Carbondale, Ill. She helped the Bradley women's cross country team to its first MVC title since 1998. A health science major, Busch owns a 3.63 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Busch and the Bradley women's cross country team return to action Friday, Nov. 14 when they host the NCAA Midwest Regional at Newman Golf Course.
