SANTEE, Calif. -- Junior Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) is tied for sixth and the Bradley men's golf team is fourth in the team standings after day one at the Carlton Oaks Invitational Monday.
Trolia ran his streak of consecutive rounds in the 70's to 21 with scores of 76 and 77 in the first two rounds of the spring season for the Braves at the par-72 Carlton Oaks Golf Resort. He is tied for sixth overall at 153, four shots behind individual leader James Holley (149) of San Diego State.
Fellow junior Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) followed up a morning round 81 with a 79 to close Monday's action seven shots back of Trolia in a tie for 19th at 160. Senior Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) matched Trolia for the low round of the day on the squad with a second-round 76. Gunther shot a first-round 86 and is two behind Masrin in a tie for 23rd (162).
Senior Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) is three shots out of the top 20 in a tie for 27th at 163 after rounds of 79 and 84. Freshman Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) enters Tuesday's final round tied for 50th at 181 to round out the team scoring for the Braves. Jacobs turned in rounds of 96 and 85 Monday.
Sophomore Alex Shane (Morton, Ill./Morton/Illinois Central) is in the field as an individual and finished the day six shots back of Trolia in a tie for 17th. Shane shot a 79 in the afternoon after carding an 80 to open tournament play.
DePaul and Nebraska-Omaha are tied atop the team standings with 36-hole scores of 620. St. Bonaventure is third overall at 635, while Bradley follows in fourth place at 638. The Braves have a four-shot lead on fifth-place Oakland and Cal State-Bakersfield closed Monday's play in sixth (643). Tournament-host Western Illinois goes into the final round in seventh (668) and IPFW completes the field in eighth (674).
Bradley concludes play at the Carlton Oaks Invitational Tuesday with the final round scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m.
