PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Madeline Lynch-Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley softball team to a 3-1 record at the Hilltopper Spring Fling in Bowling Green, Ky., last week.
Lynch-Crumrine, who was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday, hit .444 with a triple, home run, four runs scored and four RBI in addition to posting a 2-0 record with a 2.93 ERA in three appearances in the circle. She helped the Braves rally from a 7-0 deficit against Belmont, holding the Bruins hitless for the final five innings and belted a go-head three-run homer in the sixth to highlight a 3-for-4 game with a triple, two runs scored and four RBI. Lynch-Crumrine earned a complete game win over Miami (Ohio) and was 1-for-3 with a run and a walk in the victory along with drawing a walk and scoring a run in a 17-0 win against Canisius. A psychology major, Lynch-Crumrine owns a 3.29 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Lynch-Crumrine and the Braves are back in action this weekend at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla., opening tournament play Friday at 12:15 p.m. (CST) against Ohio State.
