BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bradley battled host Illinois State through some tight matches, but the Redbirds (8-5) completed a 7-0 sweep in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both women's tennis teams Wednesday at Evergreen Racquet Club.

The duo of Ariel Dechter and Cassia Wojtalik earned an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles, but Illinois State took the day's first point with 8-5 and 8-4 wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, respectively.

Decther and Wojtalik also put up stern tests in singles action, both falling in extended third-set tie breakers at Nos. 2 and 6 singles, respectively. Emmie Marx took down Dechter 5-7, 6-3, 10-6, while Gabby Phillips outlasted Wojtalik 6-1, 3-6, 11-9.

Bradley will conclude its eight-match road swing this weekend by visiting Milwaukee Saturday and Green Bay Sunday.
