Men?s Golf Finishes Fifth At Bluegrass Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) shot his lowest round of the spring with a three-under par 69 to tie for 12th at the Bluegrass Invitational and the Bradley men's golf team took fifth overall in the team's final outing before the Missouri Valley Conference championship later this month.

Masrin shot his 11th consecutive sub-80 round, firing his lowest round of the spring with a three-under par 69 at the University Club of Kentucky's par-72 Big Blue Classic.  He tied for 12th at 218 to lead the Braves as he finished two shots out of the top 20. 

Senior Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) finished one shot behind Masrin in a tie for 16th at 219 after carding a final round 75 Sunday as he turned in his third consecutive top 20 finish.  Fellow senior Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) missed the top 20 by three shots, shooting 78 to tie for 27th at 224.

Senior Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) and freshman Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) both shot 80 Sunday to finish out play.  Young tied for 58th at 230, while Jacobs finished with a three-round total of 233 to tie for 65th.

Tournament-host Kentucky won the team title by four strokes and shot a one-over par 289 in the final round Sunday to finish at 12-under 852.  Auburn was second at eight-under 856, while Cincinnati closed play in third at two-over 866.

Eastern Kentucky took fourth at 882 to edge fifth-place Bradley by seven shots.  The Braves shot 302 to finish at 889 as Bradley was six shots better than both Valparaiso and Tennessee Tech, which tied for sixth at 895.  Northern Kentucky placed eighth overall (896) with Lipscomb (9th – 899) and Dayton (10th – 900) close behind.  SIU Edwardsville was 11th in the team standings (904), while Morehead State (12th – 919) and Wright State (13th – 920) completed the field, respectively. 

The Bradley men's golf team will have two weeks off before playing the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
