PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore runner Emily Delvo (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Heart Griffin) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after winning both the 800 and 1,500 meter titles at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

The fourth individual in Valley history to win the 800 and 1,500 meter titles at the league's outdoor championship, Delvo is the first to accomplish both since Noa Beitler of Southern Illinois in 2003.  Delvo won the 1,500 meter crown by less than half a second with a time of 4:32.47 Sunday afternoon to open the final day of the MVC Championship.  She returned to the track later that afternoon to clock a career-best time of 2:09.42 to win top honors in the 800 meters.

Delvo, who also won the 800 meter title at the 2014 MVC Indoor Championship earlier this year, was five one-hundredths of a second from matching the school record in the 800 meters and joined Mary Ellen Hill (1998) as the only Braves to win two titles at the same conference championship.  A health science major, Delvo owns a 3.48 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
