PEORIA, Ill. – Sophomore runner Caitlin Busch (Waterloo, Ill./Freeburg) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after winning the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase at last week's Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill.

Busch ran in the first steeplechase of her collegiate career and won the event with a time of 11:07.08 to win the individual title by almost one minute.  The first Brave to run a steeplechase since May of 2012, she clocked the second-best time in school history and posted the eighth-fastest time in the Valley this year.  A health science major, Busch owns a 3.52 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Busch and the Bradley men's and women's track and field teams are back in action May 16-18 at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Carbondale, Ill.
