CHICAGO - Bradley's three newcomers made their presence known during the season-opening Chicago State Invitational as freshman Aimee Manfredo won the singles White Flight championship, freshman Alexa Brandt won the singles Green Flight consolation championship and junior transfer Irinka Toidze teamed with sophomore Ariel Dechter for the doubles White Flight championship Sunday at the Chicago State Tennis Courts.

Overall, the Braves completed their first tournament of the season with a 23-14 combined singles (17-11) and doubles (6-3) record and claimed two of the six overall flight championships, as well as three flight consolation titles. The trio of Brandt (3-1 singles, 2-1 doubles); Manfredo (4-0, 1-2); and Toidze (3-2, 2-0) combined for a 10-3 singles record and 5-3 doubles ledger.

Manfredo completed her undefeated (4-0) singles weekend by winning the White Flight championship match Sunday by a 6-4, 6-3 score against Lewis' Megan Nguyen. The Dechter/Toidze tandem also enjoyed a perfect weekend, completing their 3-0 tourney run with an 8-3 victory against the Northern Illinois duo of Malkin/E. Youel in Sunday's doubles White Flight championship match.

A first-year transfer from West Virginia, Toidze was unable to carry the championship momentum over to her singles match Sunday, however. Northern Illinois' Abigail Dekkinga earned a 6-3, 6-1 win in the singles White Flight consolation final.

The Braves delivered in their three other consolation championship matches, though. Brandt first teamed with sophomore Ashley Thai for an 8-6 win against NIU's Alvarez/Stefancic for the doubles Green Flight consolation title, then downed Lewis' Mindiyarova in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) to win the singles Green Flight consolation championship. In Bradley's third consolation final of the day, senior Cassia Wojtalik breezed by Green Bay's Maria Neff (6-1, 6-1) in the Black Flight.

Bradley will have a week off from competition before returning to action Sept. 26-28 in the UNI Invitational at Byrnes Park in Waterloo, Iowa.
