KOHLER, Wis. – Freshman Daniel Lensing (Spring Park, Minn./Orono) is tied for fourth overall and the Bradley men's golf team is fourth in the team standings after 36 holes at the Whistling Straits Invitational Monday in the team's season opener.
In the first outing of his collegiate career, Lensing opened tournament-play with a par 72 and followed it with a two-over 74 to finish the day at 146. He is tied for fourth in the field at two-over 146 at the Whistling Straits Golf Club's par-72 Irish Course and is two shots behind the co-leaders heading into Tuesday's final round.
The Braves are fourth in the team standings after carding 614 (308-306) Monday and closed the day 18 shots behind Youngstown State (596) for the team lead. Valparaiso is second in the team standing at 601, five shots behind the Penguins and South Dakota State is six shots in front of the Braves in third at 608. Chicago State is fifth overall at 619, while tournament-host Loyola (6th – 620) and Northern Iowa (7th – 629) completed the field, respectively.
Senior Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) is seven shots back of Lensing in a tie for 11th at 153, after shooting rounds of 77 and 76. Junior Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour/Parkland C.C.) is 14th overall in the individual standings, three shots behind Trolia at 154 with rounds of 76 and 78.
Junior Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) followed up a morning round of 83 with a 78 to finish Monday's action tied for 24th (161). Sophomore Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) rounded out the individual scoring for Bradley in tie for 30th at 163 with scores of 84 and 79.
Bradley concludes play at the Whistling Straits Intercollegiate Tuesday with one round of play starting at 8 a.m.
