ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Sophomore Lauren Cunningham (Bayside, Wis./Nicolet) finished 24th in the women's 6K, while junior Thomas Razo (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) took 70th in the men's 8K to pace the Bradley women's and men's cross country teams, respectively, at the 33rd annual Brissman/Lundeen Invitational Friday afternoon.
Cunningham was the top finisher among 12 Bradley women in the first 6K of the year for the Braves. She crossed the line with a time of 22:59.3 to finish six seconds out of the top 20 as she helped pace a Bradley pack which featured seven freshmen.
Freshman Jennifer Luksan (West Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) edged junior Caitlin Pribble (Morton, Ill./Morton) by one-tenth of a second for second among the Bradley entries. Luksan posted a time of 23:17.6 to place 35th with Pribble on her heals in 36th at 23:17.7. Freshman Molly Leveille (North Liberty, Iowa/Iowa City West) was close behind in 38th at 23:20.4.
On the men's side, Razo missed a career-best 8K time by five seconds and was eight seconds out of the top 60 in the field with a time of 26:38.6. Razo's time was a season best as he finished 16 seconds out of the top 50.
Junior Joe Fritzsche (Mt. Zion, Ill./Mt. Zion) made his season debut and clocked a time of 27:32.0 to finish 142nd in the field of over 500 runners for the Bradley men's squad.
The Bradley men's and women's cross country teams are back in action next Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., at 2:30 p.m. (CDT).
