Box Score CHICAGO - Bradley was just eight seconds away from opening its Missouri Valley Conference slate with a road win, but host Loyola Chicago (4-3-0, 1-0-0 MVC) stunned the Braves (3-5-0, 0-1-0) with the tying goal at 89:52 and the game-winner on a penalty kick in the fourth minute of overtime for a 2-1 victory Saturday night at Loyola Soccer Park.
Faced with a 1-0 deficit, Loyola outshot Bradley 16-3 in the second half and the Ramblers produced the final eight shots of regulation. The eighth proved to be one more than the Braves could sustain as Loyola goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski started the scoring sequence with a service to Jake Savino, who fed Kirill Lokhovid for a 10-yard shot at 89:52.
The Ramblers rode the momentum into overtime and earned the golden goal when a reckless foul on a slide tackle resulted in a penalty kick. Ryan Howe converted the PK against Bradley keeper Logan Ketterer at 93:33, dealing the Braves their second overtime loss of the season and halting their two-game winning streak.
Bradley gained the early lead when senior Cody Lofgren headed home a long throw from freshman defender Jacob Taylor at 18:34. Taylor's throw cleared Dobrowolski, setting up Lofgren for the easy finish at the far post.
The Braves will complete a 6-game road swing next Saturday when they visit SIU Edwardsville for a second straight Valley road game to start the league schedule.
