Lemek Tied For Seventh; Braves Ninth At Redbird Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. – Junior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) is tied for seventh and the Bradley women's golf team is ninth in the team standings after two rounds of play at the season-opening Redbird Invitational Sunday.

Lemek, the 2013-14 MVC Golfer of the Year, was tied for the individual lead after carding an opening round one-over par 73 at the par-72 Weibring Golf Course Sunday and shot a 78 in the afternoon to finish the day tied for seventh overall at 151.  She is six shots behind individual leader Maggie Ambrose of Illinois State, who followed up a first round 72 with a 73 in the afternoon.

Bradley is ninth in the team standings with a two-round total of 628, five shots out of the top six.  Northern Illinois used an eight-over par 296 in the second round to take control of the team leaderboard at 604.  Tournament-host Illinois State is second overall at 611 and Ball State is third at 614.  Butler followed in fourth place (617), while Ohio (5th – 618) and Eastern Kentucky (6th – 621) rounded out the top six, respectively.  Bowling Green and South Dakota State finished the day tied for seventh, two shots ahead of the Braves at 626.

Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake follows Bradley, six shots back in 10th at 634 and the Braves own a seven-shot edge on 11th-place Western Illinois (635).  Oakland and Loyola closed the day in a tie for 12th at 637, while Evansville and Marshall head into Monday's final round tied for 14th at 642.  Central Michigan completes the field in 16th at 648.

Sophomore Paige Jordan (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) followed up a first-round 81 with a 76 and closed the day six shots behind Lemek in a tie for 35th (157).  Junior Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) opened the 2014-15 season with a 75, but a second-round 83 saw her slip into a tie for 41st at 158 to wrap up Sunday's action. 

Freshman Abby Wellens (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) shot a pair of 81's in her first collegiate rounds and is 64th in the individual standings at 162, while fellow freshman Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) rounded out the team scoring for Bradley with a pair of 86's.  Henderson finished the day tied for 88th at 172.

Freshman Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) is in the field as an individual and had a strong debut.  Scaccia is tied for 26th at 155 after carding scores of 76 and 79.  Junior Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) is also playing as an individual and turned in scores of 84 and 82 to finish Sunday tied for 79th (166).

Bradley closes out action at the Redbird Invitational Monday with one round of play in Normal, Ill., starting at 8:30 a.m.
