Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Evansville used a 21-2 run midway through the first half to take a 32-14 lead and the Purple Aces went on to top the Bradley women's basketball team 86-46 Monday night at the Ford Center.
Sophomore Leti Lerma (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) collected her second career double-double with a team-high 18 points and game-high 15 boards. Lerma, who was 9-for-14 from the field in the game, also had one assist, two blocks and one steal.
Bradley had just nine players in uniform with junior Fantasia Vine (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) and freshman Haley Van Cleave (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead) both missing the contest due to illness.
The Braves shot 36.8 percent from the field and made a season-low six free throw attempts. Bradley also struggled from long range against Evansville, making just 1-of-19 three-point attempts.
Senior Michelle Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) gave Bradley a 12-11 lead with a fastbreak layup nearing the 13-minute mark of the first half. Mallory Ladd scored seven points in a 14-0 spurt for the Aces, which was part of a 21-2 run, however, as Evansville built a 32-14 advantage with seven minutes in the period. The Purple Aces went on to lead 45-24 at the half.
Evansville shot 62 percent from the field in the second half and 56 percent for the contest. Sara Dickey was 3-for-6 from three-point range and scored a game-high 28 points to pace four Purple Aces in double figures as she helped UE make 9-of-14 three-pointers (64 percent). Dickey also added seven assists and three steals. Ladd had 19 points on 8-for-9 shooting and also grabbed seven boards to help lead the Aces, who won their 10th consecutive home game.
Bradley returns to Renaissance Coliseum Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup with preseason conference favorite Wichita State.
