PEORIA, Ill. -- After a near three-week break, the Bradley women's golf team swings back into action Monday and Tuesday by continuing the busiest fall schedule in program history with the Cardinal Cup in Simpsonville, Ky.
The Braves will take part in the Cardinal Cup for the second straight year and third time in four seasons with this year's trip to the par-72 University of Louisville Golf Club. Action is slated to begin Monday at 8 a.m. (CDT) with a shotgun start. Tuesday's tee times will start at 7:30 a.m. (CDT). BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live scoring for all three rounds.
The 14-team field includes four teams which advanced to the 2015 NCAA Regionals last spring in Florida State, tournament-host Louisville, Notre Dame and Wisconsin. A total of nine teams are ranked in the top 80 of the latest Golfweek.com rankings, with East Carolina (#15), Illinois (#41), Indiana (#51), Virginia Tech (#67) and Tennessee-Chattanooga (#78) joining #21 Louisville, #32 Notre Dame, #47 Florida State and #79 Wisconsin in the top 80. Cincinnati, Ball State, Richmond and Columbia help round out the field.
Senior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) will look to defend her individual medalist title from last year's Cardinal Cup. She shot a pair of 69's in the final two rounds of last year's event and finished at three-under 213 to claim top honors by four strokes. Lemek owns a 73.33 career average in six rounds at the University of Louisville Golf Club and has 11 consecutive sub-80 rounds entering the event.
Sophomore Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) has had a solid fall, owning a 75.70 average this year after posting a 77.93 stroke average as a freshman in 2014-15. Scaccia tied for 39th at last year's Cardinal Cup.
Seniors Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) and Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) have both played twice at the Cardinal Cup. Roadley tied for 42nd last fall and owns a 78.83 career average at the University of Louisville Golf Club, while Walsh has carded matching 54-hole scores of 248 in her two appearances at the course.
Walsh is tied for ninth in career sub-80 rounds at Bradley with 43 and needs three more rounds in the 70's or better to move into a tie for seventh. Roadley is right behind Walsh with 42 career sub-80 efforts.
Sophomore Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) is coming off the lowest 54-hole score of her career (234) at the Johnie Imes Invitational to wrap up the month of September. Henderson is fifth on the squad this fall with a 79.10 stroke average and has fired four of her last seven rounds in the 70's, which included a career-best 75 in the second round of the Johnie Imes Invitational.
Following the Cardinal Cup, the Bradley women's golf team will conclude its fall schedule Oct. 25-27 at the 38th annual Pat Bradley Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
