SPRINGFIELD, IL - Bradley will play for three of the tournament's 10 flight championships Sunday when the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championships conclude Sunday at the Velasco Tennis Center.
The duo of junior Ariel Dechter and senior Irinka Toidze knocked off the the top-seeded Wichita State combo of Quan/Schlotterback, 8-3, in Saturday morning's Flight 3 Doubles semifinal match. The Bradley tandem will face Missouri State's Boeschen/Torrico pairing in Sunday's Flight 3 Doubles championship match.
Bradley and Missouri State will square off for a singles title Sunday, as well, after Braves sophomore Aimee Manfredo pulled out a 3-set victory in her Flight 5 Singles semifinal against Southern Illinois' Polina Dozortseva. After a pair of one-sided scores in the first two sets, Manfredo advanced with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 decision. Manfredo will face Missouri State's Miranda Poile in Sunday's Flight 5 Singles championship match.
Bradley, which has won only one flight title in the history of the MVC Women's Tennis Individual Championships, will get a third crack at adding to that total when junior Ashley Thai takes on Illinois State's Valerija Gercar in the Flight 7 Singles title match. Thai advanced to the final by cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Southern Illinois' Elisabeth Parr in Saturday's semifinal.
Bradley's only title in MVC Women's Tennis Individual Championships history was won by Cindy Schneider at No. 3 Singles in 1986. Bradley trails only Wichita State (6) and Illinois State (5) and equals Drake for the most finalists in this year's tournament.
