PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's tennis player Irinka Toidze (Tbilisi, Georgia/Jejili/West Virginia) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after earning the Flight 3 Doubles title at last week's Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships.

Toidze teamed with junior Ariel Dechter (Mendelein, Ill./Mundelein) to sweep through the Flight 3 Doubles bracket at last week's championship played at the Velasco Tennis Center in Springfield, Ill.  The duo posted an 8-5 win against Missouri State's Anelisse Torrico and Phoebe Boeschen in Sunday's championship match to give Bradley its first MVC Individuals title since 1986.  A psychology major, Toidze owns a 3.38 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

The Bradley women's tennis team closes out its fall schedule Oct. 22-25 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship in Ann Arbor, Mich., in addition to the Northern Illinois Invitational Oct. 23-25 in DeKalb, Ill.
