Western Michigan (2-2 overall) is 2-0 at home this season and 0-2 on the road, with both road losses coming at the hands of top-25 teams in Michigan State and Northwestern. Bradley and Western Michigan will be playing for the fifth time overall, but the last matchup in the series was during the 1998-99 campaign. The Braves are 3-1 overall against the Broncos, winning both of the previous home contests.
Bradley (1-2 overall) looks to rebound from a loss to 17th-ranked Oklahoma Sunday in the home opener for the Braves. Tuesday's game is the second of four contests for Bradley against teams from the Mid-American Conference. The Braves are 12-7 all-time at home against teams from the MAC, which includes an 11-4 mark (.733) since 1987-88. In fact, Bradley is 7-3 at home against MAC teams other than in-state opponent Northern Illinois.
The midweek contest against Western Michigan is the second of a three-game home stand for Bradley, which is playing back-to-back games at Renaissance Coliseum in the month of November for the first time since 2011-12. In fact, the Braves have never had a three-game home stand in the month of November prior to this season. In addition, the Braves will play the final game before Thanksgiving at home for the first time since 2008. Bradley has won each of the last three contests when playing the final game before Thanksgiving at home dating back to 2003.
Junior Whitney Tinjum (Stacy, Minn./Chisago Lakes/Washington State) has led Bradley in scoring in two of the first three games and is averaging a team-best 13.0 points per game after a 12-point outing against Oklahoma Sunday. Tinjum is scoring 33 percent of her points this season from the free throw line, making 13-of-14 free throw attempts on the year. She is 36-for-40 (90 percent) from the charity stripe in her six career non-conference outings as a Brave.
Bradley will wrap up the three-game home stand Saturday with a 7 p.m. game against Eureka College at Renaissance Coliseum.
